Seatpost Mount Construction:
The seat subframe is connected to the frame at the head tube/top tube and the seat post. The seat post mount has been revised and both instructions are below.

The seat subframe consists of 4 parts. These instructions are only for the Seatpost Mount.

This part has been revised, see the revised design below. The revised design requires more metal fabrication, but works on a greater range of frames.

Parts Required:

  • 2 x 3d Printed Seatpost Mount
  • 2 x 4130 tube 5.5in/140mm long – Mcmaster 89955K268
  • 6 x m6 Brass threaded insert – Mcmaster 94180A373
  • 6 x m6x1 20mm long Flat Head screw – Mcmaster 91304A134
  • 4 x m6x1 16mm long Flange Hex Screws – Mcmaster 90386A101

Instructions

  1. 3d Print part in Taulman 910 filament at 30% infill. Part must be very durable make sure you have great layer lamination. (Link to 3d File)
  2. Cut tubing to length and tap ID with m6x1 30mm deep
  3. Insert threaded inserts in 6 places by heating insert while installed on screw and pushing into the bottom of the 3d printed part.
  4. Assemble unit by screwing Flanged hex screws from either side capturing the 4130 threaded tubing.
  5. Mate with frame and seatpost mount and Head/Top tube mount before drilling holes for flat screw or Head/Top tube mount.

Revised Instructions, may require more new unlisted hardware….

  1. Cut U channel tubing to length.
  2. Drill hole in side of tubing to mate with seat post.
  3. Cut seat post and hole in centerline and round seatpost end.
  4. Mate seatpost with bike, and insert bolt through hole drilled in seatpost and u channel .
  5. Place seat subframe onto u channel and spot holes for both u channel and seat subframe.
  6. Drill holes in both U channel and seat subframe and reassemble.
