A health and fitness company was interested in improving the elastic band training experience with their existing product by giving the user feedback and a rep counter. Resistance bands have been used for years for stretching, strength training and general fitness but users had no ability to know if they were achieving the desired resistance without feedback.

Josh Gore Works created an accessory for existing bands which counts the number of total reps by electrical sensor(switch). The sensor is tripped when the desired force is reached, but no rep is counted if the force is not met. This is accomplished by adjusting the preload on a spring which is compressed under load. The user matches their color coded band with the color coded weight specified on the training device. If you set the unit to 10lbs then the rep will only be counted after 10lbs of force is applied. An audible or haptic feedback mechanism alerts the user when the specified force is met and rep counted.
